Frequently asked questions
FinTract is a financial document extraction API that allows users to upload various financial documents such as PDF bank statements, invoices, balance sheets, income statements, and cash-flow statements. It returns structured JSON data with a source citation for every critical field.
Unlike generic OCR, FinTract validates the financial logic in every document before returning results. This means that transactions must reconcile against opening and closing balances, balance sheets must balance, and totals must match line items. If a document fails validation, the API returns an error instead of incorrect numbers, and users are not billed for it.
FinTract charges $0.05 per page for document extraction, and users can pay as they go. There is also a $2.00 free credit to start, which is approximately equivalent to 40 pages, and no credit card is required to sign up. There are no subscriptions, and the prepaid balance never expires.
Common use cases for FinTract include lending and underwriting workflows, bookkeeping automation, importing statements into accounting software like QuickBooks or Xero, invoice processing, and financial analysis pipelines that start from PDFs.
Integration with FinTract is designed to be self-serve. Users can sign up, obtain an API key, and run their first extraction in just a few minutes without the need for sales calls or enterprise contracts.
